Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver life-supporting care for patients with cardiopulmonary conditions under physician supervision. You will evaluate, plan, and administer therapies, operate ventilators and gas delivery systems, monitor patient responses, and educate patients and colleagues.

Ideal candidates have an AS in Respiratory Therapy with 1+ year of experience; NJ license and NBRC-RRT within 1 year; BLS is required with ALS to be obtained within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science degree in respiratory therapy required.
• Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
• 1+ year of respiratory care experience; critical care preferred.
• Experience with PFT studies and cardiopulmonary testing preferred.
• EPIC charting experience preferred; NBRC- RRT credential within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates prescriptions, measures arterial blood gases, and assesses patient condition to determine therapy.
• Renders aerosol medications and treatments; positions patients to aid breathing.
• Determines administration method and precautions per physician orders.
• Sets up and operates ventilators and gas administration equipment.
• Monitors treatment parameters and administers medicinal gases and aerosols.
• Tracks patient responses and adjusts therapy as needed.
• Performs chest physiotherapy to aid mucus clearance and breathing.
• Assists in pulmonary function testing for diagnosis.
• Monitors equipment and ensures safe operation; requests repairs as needed.
• Consults with physician on adverse reactions.
• Maintains patient charts and ensures equipment safety and maintenance.
• Provides patient education and support for chronic lung disease.
• Demonstrates procedures to trainees and staff.
• May care for premature infants and elderly or trauma patients.
• Other related duties as assigned
