Job summary

SnapCare in Florence, SC seeks a Respiratory Therapist to deliver intensive respiratory care and patient transport with minimal supervision. You will evaluate patients, recommend treatment plans, and explain procedures and discharge education.

You will perform chest respiratory therapies using ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers, conduct chest X-ray reviews, EKGs, pulmonary function tests, and assist with bronchoscopy and other procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality patient care with intensive respiratory care and patient transport with minimal supervision
• Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans
• Explain purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and provide discharge education
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
• Perform chest physiotherapy using various equipment to promote secretion clearance
• Perform patient suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods
• Perform oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy
• Conduct routine review of patient chest X-rays to determine need for further evaluation
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition
• Perform pulmonary function studies including NIF and VC according to policy
• Assist with respiratory care procedures including Bronchoscopy, Perc Trachs, and Chest Tube placement
• Perform chest drainage via PleurX catheter or similar device where applicable
• Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes in emergent and non-emergent situations
• Perform arterial puncture and monitor, record, and report ventilation efficiency results
• Follow all laboratory testing policies and procedures including specimen handling, equipment use, documentation, and quality controls
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Perform endotracheal tube insertion and removal via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope system
• Set up, self-test, operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment
• Assist with preventative maintenance and repair of equipment as needed
• Record all pertinent treatment information and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient charts
• Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency
• Report necessary information during walking rounds for shift-to-shift handoff communication
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging including data entry, verification, and error correction
