Job summary

Ochsner Health System Careers is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen therapy, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for patients across neonatal to geriatric ages. Responsibilities include monitoring arterial blood gases, EKGs, and weaning oxygen therapy, with duties aligned to physician orders and established policies.

Required credentials include an associate's degree, active LRT license, NBRC CRT, BLS, and ACLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required.
• Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification for NICU staff.
• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care based on patient age and safety criteria.
• Maintains professional certifications and knowledge of procedures.
• Attends staff meetings.
• Other duties as required.
