Job summary

Accendra Health is recruiting a Respiratory Therapist to deliver in-home respiratory care, balancing branch time and field visits. The role focuses on oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation support, with emphasis on patient education and documentation.

You will perform clinical assessments, coordinate with physicians and case managers, and use mobile devices for real-time documentation. The position offers on-site work with travel, in a patient-facing capacity.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist with an active OH RT license.
• Experience using mobile technology and digital documentation.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Hold a current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits to set up oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment with follow-ups.
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use and maintenance.
• Assess patient needs, document care, and escalate concerns.
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and branch teams.
• Maintain documentation using iPad/laptop.
• Operate various respiratory care equipment (oxygen, nebulization, PAP, ventilation).
• Inspect and test equipment for proper function.
• Perform clinical assessments (pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry).

Why is this Respiratory Therapist role different

This role provides a balance between time in the branch and time in the field, allowing you to develop strong patient-facing clinical skills while maintaining workflow independence.

Key Highlights

• Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (flexible)
• Work Arrangement: On-site; 70% in the office, 30% on the road
• Driving Distance: Up to 1.5 hours one way (typically 30–40 minutes)
• On-Call: Every 2 weeks, rotating with the other RT; may assist with Driver duties if willing.
• Salary Range $35 - $40/hr per hour. Compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.
• On-Call transparency Rotation frequency: Every 2 weeks per month. May assist with Driver duties if willing.

What you’ll do

• Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups and follow‑ups
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and escalates concerns appropriately
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs
• Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop
• Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation
• Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition
• Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and gathering vital signs
• Performs other duties as required

What we look for

• Registered Respiratory Therapist with an active OH RT license
• Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects ranging from 10 – 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license
• Comfortable using mobile technology, navigation tools, and digital documentation
• Education Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy
• Hold a current CPR Certification
• Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice
