Job summary

Ochsner Health System Careers is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for neonatal to geriatric patients. Responsibilities include monitoring ABGs, EKGs, and adapting care to patient needs in a high-quality clinical setting.

Required Associate degree with state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist, NBRC RRT, and BLS; ACLS within 90 days of hire.

• Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and role-specific software.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to policy.
• Reviews and documents clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care aligned with patient age and safety criteria.
• Adapts to different patient populations and maintains privacy.
