Job summary

Jobtailor in Berkeley Heights, NJ is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform pulmonary function tests, calibrate PFT machines, maintain records, and support patient flow on site. The role includes room preparation, vitals recording, and collaboration with physicians and office staff.

Qualifications

• High School/GED is required.
• Medical Assistant Certification is preferred.
• Complete onsite training for certificate of achievement within 90 days of start date.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pulmonary function tests using sound clinical practice.
• Calibrate PFT machines according to manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain records and organize PFT charts.
• Maintain constant patient flow.
• Prepare examination rooms, escort patients, and clean rooms after examinations.
• Document reasons for visits.
• Obtain and accurately record vital signs.
• Dispose of medical waste appropriately.
• Communicate with managers, office staff, nurses, and physicians.
• Follow emergency procedures.
• Maintain supplies and equipment for PFT procedures.
• Communicate equipment repair orders to appropriate personnel.
• Perform daily appointment reconciliation.
• Assist physicians, PAs, or NPs with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required

Requirements

• Vocational / Technical School / Diploma Program preferred
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred

• Ability to operate diagnostic/patient care equipment required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire required
• Previous knowledge and experience in pulmonary function testing required
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy
• Experience with Standard Office Equipment preferred
• Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Windows-based environment preferred
• Experience with patient care equipment preferred
• Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred
• Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed
