Job summary

Job Description

Essential Job Functions

• Demonstrates sound clinical practice in performing Pulmonary Function Tests
• Calibrates PFT machine according to manufacturer's specifications .
• Verbalizes understanding of record keeping procedure related to PFT's.
• Maintains constant flow of patients.
• Prepares the examination room. Escorts patient into the room. Cleans examination room when exam is complete.
• Document reason for visit.
• Obtains vital signs: BP, temp, pulse, height & weight accurately and completely as required.
• Maintains all PFT charts in an orderly manner .
• Verbalizes appropriate medical waste disposal.
• Communicates effectively with manager and office staff.
• Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures.
• Maintains supplies for PFT procedures and equipment.
• Communicates repair orders to appropriate personnel.
• Performs accurate daily appointment reconciliation.
• Communicates problems to Nurse/Physician.

General Job Functions

• Responsible for assisting physician, PA or NP with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care and procedures.

Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements

• High School/GED required. Vocational / Technical School / Diploma Program preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• Completion of onsite training for certificate of achievement within 90 days of start date.
• Ability to operate diagnostic/patient care equipment required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire required.
• Previous knowledge and experience in pulmonary function testing required.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
• Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
• Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred.
• Experience with patient care equipment preferred.
• Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.

Travel

Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed.
