Job Description
Essential Job Functions
- Demonstrates sound clinical practice in performing Pulmonary Function Tests
- Calibrates PFT machine according to manufacturer's specifications .
- Verbalizes understanding of record keeping procedure related to PFT's.
- Maintains constant flow of patients.
- Prepares the examination room. Escorts patient into the room. Cleans examination room when exam is complete.
- Document reason for visit.
- Obtains vital signs: BP, temp, pulse, height & weight accurately and completely as required.
- Maintains all PFT charts in an orderly manner .
- Verbalizes appropriate medical waste disposal.
- Communicates effectively with manager and office staff.
- Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures.
- Maintains supplies for PFT procedures and equipment.
- Communicates repair orders to appropriate personnel.
- Performs accurate daily appointment reconciliation.
- Communicates problems to Nurse/Physician.
General Job Functions
- Responsible for assisting physician, PA or NP with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care and procedures.

Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements
- High School/GED required. Vocational / Technical School / Diploma Program preferred.
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
- Completion of onsite training for certificate of achievement within 90 days of start date.
- Ability to operate diagnostic/patient care equipment required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire required.
- Previous knowledge and experience in pulmonary function testing required.
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
- Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred.
- Experience with patient care equipment preferred.
- Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.
Travel
Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed.
