- Treat patients with pulmonary disorders including asthma, COPD, collapsed lungs, and pneumonia
- Meet with patients, diagnose ailments, design treatment plans, and conduct tests assessing lung capacity and gas levels
- Perform ABG punctures according to NAH policy
- Prepare and administer pharmacological solutions and respiratory treatments as prescribed, monitoring effectiveness
- Record vital signs, breath sounds, ventilator status, mental status, and treatment responses
- Identify patients and verify orders before administering treatment or respiratory care
- Set ventilator parameters according to established protocols and doctors' orders
- Perform or assist with proper E.T. tube placement while minimizing trauma
- Complete billing paperwork and timely, accurate documentation in the EMR
- Assemble, disassemble, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, clean, and perform minor repairs on equipment
- Educate patients on therapies and prescribed medications before discharge and document their understanding
- Report safety incidents through the Midas/RDE tool and attend safety training
- Maintain current certifications and complete mandatory company modules and job-specific training
Requirements
- Associate's Degree from an AMA Respiratory Therapy Program - Required
- Licensed by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners - Required
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS - Required
- NRP - Required within 90 days from date of hire and/or providing care in special care nursery
- One year of experience - Preferred
- No call required
- Ability to perform ABG punctures
- Ability to administer prescribed pharmacological solutions and respiratory treatments
- Ability to set ventilator parameters according to protocols and doctors' orders
- Ability to place or assist with placing E.T. tubes
- Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, clean, and perform minor repairs on respiratory equipment
- Ability to complete accurate EMR documentation and billing paperwork
- Ability to comply with hospital policies, safety standards, and applicable state and federal regulations
