Job summary

Bayview Medical Hospital, part of Johns Hopkins Medicine, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for full-time day shift (07:00 am - 07:00 pm) with weekend rotation. The role requires graduation from an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program, Maryland state licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, and NBRC-registered status.

  • Graduate of an AMA‑approved Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Maryland State Board of Physicians.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the NBRC required.
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification required or preferred (per department standards).
  • Strong analytical and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy and remain calm in potentially stressful situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to explain policies, relay information accurately, and communicate with courtesy and tact.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and assess patients during pulmonary rehabilitation sessions
  • Monitor and obtain vital signs as appropriate
  • Assist patients throughout therapy activities to ensure safety and tolerance
  • Provide patient education related to pulmonary disease management and rehabilitation goals
  • Respond appropriately to patient needs or changes in condition
  • Work collaboratively with the pulmonary rehab team, including another RT responsible for documentation
  • Follow infection control, safety, and departmental policies
  • Maintain a professional, supportive, and respectful environment for all patients

Pay Rate:$65 per hour
