Johns Hopkins Intrastaff, the internal staffing agency for the Johns Hopkins Health System and its partner hospitals, seeks a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join the Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Observe, assess, and monitor patients in outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation programs, document vital signs, and educate patients and families on disease management and rehabilitation goals.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Current Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through NBRC.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe, assess, and monitor patients in outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation programs.
• Obtain and document vital signs, oxygen saturation, and other indicators during sessions.
• Provide hands-on support and encouragement during therapy activities.
• Educate patients and families on pulmonary disease management and rehab goals.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary pulmonary rehabilitation team.
• Adhere to infection control, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain clear communication with patients, families, physicians and the care team.

• 10:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Pay Rate

Competitive hourly rate, negotiable based on experience

• Observe, assess, and monitor patients participating in outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation programs to ensure safe and effective treatment progression.
• Obtain and document vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and other patient indicators as appropriate throughout rehabilitation sessions.
• Provide hands‑on support and encouragement during therapy activities, promoting patient engagement, comfort, and successful program participation.
• Educate patients and their families on pulmonary disease management, breathing techniques, energy conservation, medication compliance, and rehabilitation goals.
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns as needed to ensure patient safety and continuity of care.
• Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary pulmonary rehabilitation team, including a fellow Respiratory Therapist responsible for clinical documentation and electronic medical record entry.
• Reinforce individualized treatment plans and support patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals and improving overall quality of life.
• Adhere to all infection prevention protocols, safety standards, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Foster a positive, compassionate, and patient-centered environment while delivering exceptional customer service and professional care.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Current Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant setting preferred.
