Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for the Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Schedule: Mon-Fri, 10:45 a.m.–3:00 p.m., pay rate negotiable based on experience.

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program with active Maryland RCP license and NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credential is required. BLS certification is required; ACLS preferred. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Active Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credential.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe, assess, and monitor patients in outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation programs to ensure safe and effective treatment progression.
• Obtain and document vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and other patient indicators during rehabilitation sessions.
• Provide hands-on support and encouragement during therapy activities, promoting patient engagement and participation.
• Educate patients and families on pulmonary disease management, breathing techniques, energy conservation, medication compliance, and rehabilitation goals.
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns as needed for safety and continuity of care.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary pulmonary rehabilitation team, including a fellow Respiratory Therapist for clinical documentation and EMR entry.
• Reinforce individualized treatment plans and support patients in achieving rehabilitation goals and improved quality of life.
• Adhere to infection prevention protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a positive, compassionate, patient-centered environment while delivering excellent customer service and professional care.
• Ensure clear communication with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members for optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant setting preferred.
