Pursue your passion for caring with Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, North Carolina. The smallest of Duke Health's four hospitals at 123 beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.

Summary

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders. Duties include working with neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients.

Work Performed

• Administer oxygen, aerosolized medications, and perform related activities.
• Perform airway suctioning, CPR, bag-mask ventilation, pulse oximetry, arterial blood gases, and pulmonary mechanics.
• Conduct diagnostic procedures such as cardiopulmonary tests, EKGs, and cardiac monitoring.
• Transport patients, verify physician orders, and ensure equipment safety and functionality.
• Adhere to infection control standards and respond to life-threatening situations.
• Understand pharmacological indications and reactions, assess patient care needs, and provide education to patients and staff.
• Document all procedures and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of respiratory equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have the knowledge to make appropriate clinical decisions, maintain certifications, and meet annual safety and license requirements. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential. Ability to lift over 30 pounds, walk, climb, and bend is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a 2-year AMA-approved respiratory care program or current enrollment, with registry eligibility. Licensure in North Carolina or provisional license, and BLS certification are required.
