Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital

Pursue your passion for caring with Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, North Carolina. The smallest of Duke Health’s four hospitals at 123 beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.

Summary

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of practice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders, across neonatal, pediatric, and adult patient populations.

Work Performed
  • Administer oxygen, aerosolized medications, and perform related activities.
  • Perform airway suctioning, CPR, and bag-mask ventilation.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests, EKGs, and cardiac monitoring.
  • Transport patients within the hospital, verify physician orders, and ensure equipment safety and functionality.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, recognize life-threatening situations, and respond appropriately.
  • Understand pharmacological indications and respond to adverse drug reactions.
  • Assess patient needs, provide education, and document in medical records.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and maintain respiratory equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must possess the knowledge to make appropriate clinical decisions, maintain certifications, and adhere to safety standards. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required. Physical demands include lifting, walking, climbing, and bending.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a 2-year AMA-approved respiratory care program or current enrollment, with NBRC eligibility. Licensure in North Carolina or provisional licensure, and BLS certification are required.
