Pursue your passion for caring with Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, North Carolina. The smallest of Duke Health’s four hospitals at 123 beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.

Summary

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders. Duties include working with neonatal, pediatric, and adult patient populations.

Work Performed

• Administer oxygen and aerosolized medications via IPPB, IAT, and MDI.
• Perform airway suctioning, CPR, bag-mask ventilation, pulse oximetry monitoring, arterial blood gas punctures, and bedside pulmonary mechanics.
• Conduct diagnostic cardiopulmonary procedures, pulmonary function studies, EKGs, and cardiac monitoring.
• Transport patients within the hospital, verify physician orders, and ensure equipment safety and functionality.
• Adhere to infection control standards and recognize life-threatening situations to initiate appropriate responses.
• Understand pharmacological indications, dosages, and adverse reactions.
• Provide patient education, monitor therapy responses, document in medical records, and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of respiratory equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have the knowledge for clinical decision-making, skills for team interactions, and certifications for the duties performed. Maintain annual skills and safety compliance, North Carolina license requirements, and demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills. Physical requirements include lifting, walking, climbing, and bending.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a 2-year AMA-approved respiratory care program or current enrollment, with registry eligibility. No prior experience required. Must hold North Carolina State Licensure or Provisional License, NBRC certification, and BLS certification.
