Job summary

Avondale High School is seeking a Resource Room Teacher- Math Co-Teacher to support students in a dynamic, student-centered environment. You will join a passionate team delivering specialized instruction, developing IEP goals, and collaborating with general education and SPED staff to promote meaningful learning experiences.

You will be responsible for data collection, behavior plans, transition planning, and coordination with related services.

Qualifications

• Michigan Certification with appropriate endorsement for specified subjects.
• Special education endorsement (ASD/EI/CI) preferred.
• Knowledge of Dyslexia Law preferred.
• Co-teaching experience with evidence of success preferred.
• Knowledge of modifications and accommodations for general education curriculum.
• Proficiency in Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP), IEP goals, objectives, FBA and behavior plans.
• Non-violent Crisis Intervention training.
• Working knowledge of special education law.
• Experience with diverse disabilities (ASD, SLD, EI, CI, VI, HI, PI, OHI, SLI, ADHD).
• Physical demands include lifting up to 40 pounds.
• High energy, quick response to situations.
• Willingness to attend training.
• Understanding of growth development, learning theories and SPED service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Participate in developing and promoting the SPED philosophy of service and delivery.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
• Collect accurate ongoing data on student programming.
• Collaborate with staff, students, parents, and community.
• Direct instruction for SPED students in academics, communication, social skills, and transition.
• Provide guidance to program paraeducators.
• Assess students' progress.
• Maintain SPED records and communicate with parents.
• Facilitate, write, and implement IEPs and Behavior Plans.
• Develop IEPs with educational benefit and goals.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal SPED rules.
• Utilize assistive technology for students.
• Assist students with basic needs (feeding, toileting).
• Coordinate schedules within program and job placements.
• Develop collaborative Transition services for students.
• Coordinate with agencies (MRS, CMH, SSA, ARC).
• Maintain confidentiality and communicate progress.
