Job summary

Sycuan Casino is seeking a Banquet Captain to provide guest service by reviewing banquet event orders, coordinating food and beverage delivery, and ensuring rooms and equipment meet specifications.

You will supervise banquet servers and housepersons, enforce responsible alcohol service, handle guest requests with professionalism, and maintain sanitary banquet spaces while ensuring stock and readiness of supplies for events.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current food handlers card.
• 1 year of food server experience.
• 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provides guests with service by reviewing banquet event orders, delivering food and beverages, and coordinating with kitchen staff.
• Guides banquet servers and housepersons; conducts pre-event meetings and delegates duties.
• Ensures responsible alcohol beverage service by checking IDs, monitoring consumption, and stopping service at the designated time.
• Promotes guest relations by responding to requests and sharing information on promotions.
• Maintains safe and sanitary banquet areas and disposes of trash.
• Ensures banquet equipment and supplies are stocked and clean; submits supply requisitions.

Job Purpose:

Provides service to guests by delivering food and drinks and provides guidance to Banquet Server

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time

1. Provides guests with serviceby reviewing banquet event order, ensuring and verifying rooms, audio visual equipment, lighting, microphone, sound, and room temperature are set as requested, verifying bar beverage availability, scheduling Banquet Servers, acknowledging and welcoming guests entering the resort and event rooms, promptly delivering and serving food and beverages, informing kitchen staff of meal adjustments and/or timing of delivery, providing wine selection assistance as needed, ensuring prompt removal and delivery of food courses, refilling and/or removal of glassware as appropriate, and preparing guest check.-40%
2. Provides guidance to Banquet Servers and Banquet Housepersonsby holding pre-event meetings, delegating duties for each event, ensuring room set up to specifications, and proving training as needed. -20%
3. Ensures responsible alcohol beverage service polices are followedby asking for proper identification from guests that appear to be under the age of 30, monitoring alcohol consumption, ensuring guests do not become intoxicated following established procedures, stopping alcohol service at the designated time, and clearing the room of all alcoholic containers, glasses and bottles for each venue at the time specified. -15%
4. Promotes guest relationsby responding to guest requests, offering appropriate up to date information regarding promotional contests and giveaways, providing requested assistance and product knowledge, and treating guests in a friendly and courteous manner. -10%
5. Maintains safe and sanitary banquet areasby cleaning surfaces, breaking-down buffets, beverage tables, storing equipment and supplies in designated areas, and disposing of all trash. -10%
6. Ensures banquet equipment and supplies are stocked and cleanby submitting supply requisitions, placing delivered water, food and supplies in designated areas, polishing silverware, folding napkins, and cleaning shelves, condiment holders, tables and counters according to established procedures. -5%

Job Specifications:

Education and Experience:

Essential:

• High School Diploma, High School Certificate of Completion, or G.E.D.
• Current food handlers card
• 1 year of food server experience
• 21 years of age

Desirable:

• Guest or Hospitality Service experience
• Cocktail serving experience
• Fine dining server experience
