AtkinsRéalis in New York, NY seeks a Resilience and Emergency Management Intern to support public-sector resilience projects. You will assist with research, data collection, reporting, and coordination across grants, planning, and disaster recovery activities.

The role emphasizes MS Office proficiency, SharePoint training, and developing skills in ArcGIS and Power BI, with mentorship and hands-on exposure to industry-leading projects within a diverse team.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 60 credit hours toward a degree from an accredited college or university by the start of the internship.
• Preferred fields include Emergency Management, Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Geography/GIS, Environmental Studies, Planning, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Communications.
• No professional experience required; internship, volunteer, research, customer service, administrative, data analysis, planning, grants, or public-sector experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support resilience, emergency management, disaster recovery, grant, and planning projects through research, data collection, document development, meeting coordination, and follow-up activities.
• Review, organize, track, and maintain grant applications, reimbursement requests, plans, project records, and related documentation in accordance with program requirements and quality standards.
• Prepare correspondence, meeting summaries, presentations, maps, reports, briefing materials, forms, logs, and other project deliverables for internal and client use.
• Maintain project information, datasets, dashboards, SharePoint sites, databases, spreadsheets, and other systems of record to support project delivery and reporting.
• Conduct research and analysis, including data compilation, data visualization, mapping, GIS support, technical summaries, and reviews of program guidance, policies, and resilience-related topics.
• Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance of project documents, datasets, and deliverables.
• Collaborate with grants specialists, planners, engineers, project managers, technical staff, clients, and stakeholders to support project execution, public engagement, site visits, planning activities, and funding programs, including FEMA, HUD, and state agencies.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of project, client, office, and organizational needs.
