Community Housing Innovations (CHI) is seeking a part-time Shelter Monitor in Poughkeepsie, NY. You will wear a Safety Monitor vest, perform hourly site tours, and ensure compliance with CHI and DSS/DCFS policies while maintaining safety and order for residents.

You will document incidents, assist during crises, and coordinate with supervisors to escalate issues. Strong communication in English is required; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in English required.
• Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Maintain visibility to residents by wearing Safety Monitor vest and ID badge and inspect site through regular tours of the property.
• Enforce CHI, site and DSS/DCFS policies, regulations, and rules with residents.
• Intervene in situations to de-escalate and redirect behavior.
• Provide limited crisis intervention to residents when necessary until CHI staff can intervene.
• Maintain accurate documentation throughout shift (turn-over, census, logs, incident reports).
• Conduct unit inspections to ensure monitoring and follow-up are recorded.
• Accept resident referrals and review rules with new arrivals.
• Submit internal and external reports timely to funding agencies.
• Inform Shelter Manager of work site conditions and needs.
• Prep vacant units for new placements.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies.
• Facilitate and document evacuation procedures as directed.
