Job summary

The Salvation Army Midland Division Family Haven Shelter in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Residential Care Specialist for a part-time, 25-hour-per-week, non-exempt position at $15.50 per hour.

The role involves guiding residents, maintaining safety, and supporting daily operations of the shelter. Responsibilities include documenting bed checks, enforcing rules, coordinating chores, answering phones, and participating in team trainings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with one year experience in a social service agency or two years residential experience without a diploma.
• Higher education in psychology, social work, criminal justice or related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Client Guiding & Safety: support clients in practicing positive behavior and safety; conduct hourly bed checks; enforce rules and policies.
• Facility & Operational Duties: maintain shelter journal; answer phones; coach residents on chores; keep spaces clean and orderly.
• Team Collaboration & Communication: attend team meetings and trainings; participate in events; complete trainings timely; maintain professional communication and respect.
