Job summary

Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana seeks a Family Recovery Support staff member to monitor a residential center and provide structure for residents in early recovery. You will ensure sign-in/sign-out, searches, and passes, while coordinating with staff to maintain safety and confidentiality.

The role requires handling calls, supporting chores, assisting with med calls, and occasional transportation with agency vehicle.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Lived experience with a substance use disorder and recovery (12+ months) preferred.
• At least 1 year experience working with women experiencing substance use disorders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact with staff at all levels respectfully.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
• Criminal history investigation may be required; conviction review applies.
• Must pass drug screening as required by the agency.
• TB screening prior to employment; free from active TB.
• Maintain First Aid, CPR and seizure assessment training.
• Position may transport residents rarely using agency vehicle.
• Rotational schedule with overnight, weekend and holiday shifts.
• Must have valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and registration; satisfactory MVRO.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the residential center to ensure safety and well‑being of residents, staff and visitors.
• Provide structure and support to residents in early recovery.
• Ensure sign-in/sign-out and search compliance; manage passes for resident egress.
• Handle calls and messages per HIPAA and program rules.
• Assist with chores, laundry, cleaning, and organizing as assigned.
• Assist with transportation of residents when approved.
• Perform duties to support the recovery-oriented environment.
