Job summary

Citi Bank Retail Mortgage in Citrus Heights, California seeks a Mortgage Lending Officer to originate high-quality residential real estate loans for clients. The role interfaces with retail branches, operations, and referral partners to grow mortgage business and ensure smooth processing and closings.

The position requires 2–5 years of mortgage sales experience, a valid NMLS, and a strong ability to explain loan options and pricing. Travel to client sites may be involved as needed.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years relevant experience in mortgage sales.
• 3+ years residential mortgage experience required.
• Established book of business.
• Proven product sales capability required.
• FHA/VA & conventional loan experience preferred.
• Ability to explain financial calculations and pricing.
• Ability to communicate required documents for loan applications.
• Knowledge of consumer lending laws (privacy, RESPA).
• Strong customer service and relationship-management skills.
• Must register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about financial situation and lending needs.
• Collect and analyze income, assets, debts, cash flow, and credit history.
• Assess whether the customer and property may qualify for a lending solution.
• Recommend lending solutions to meet financial and personal objectives.
• Advise on risks and benefits of alternatives.
• Promote Citi's lending services to clients and referral partners.
• Visit customers outside Citi's offices as needed.
• Collaborate with internal partners to support customers.
• Refer clients to other Citi professionals when appropriate.
• Coordinate with Operations, Processors, and Underwriters for timely closings.
• Develop referral relationships with real estate agents, CPAs, builders, etc.
• Stay informed on market trends and regulatory changes.
• Maintain risk controls and uphold Citi policies.
