Job summary

Birge & Held is seeking a Service Technician I to support daily maintenance at Sanctuary at Fishers, Pullman Pointe and Flats at Switch. You will perform HVAC, electrical, and plumbing tasks, maintain facilities, and ensure a high level of resident satisfaction.

The role requires a strong safety mindset, ability to manage multiple tasks, and reliable transportation for property-wide coverage. Report to the Operations Manager.

Qualifications

• Formal HVAC training or equivalent experience preferred.
• EPA refrigerant handling certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• OSHA and safety standards knowledge desirable.
• Own hand tools and ability to operate all required tools.
• Experience in residential property maintenance beneficial.
• Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deliver quality work.
• Willingness to travel between properties with a valid driver’s license.
• Able to work in various weather and lift up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and common areas for cleanliness, safety, and condition.
• Perform basic repairs/maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Complete work orders within 48 hours unless emergency dictates otherwise.
• Ensure unit turnovers are completed within five working days.
• Provide on-site maintenance to preserve appearance and functionality.
• Give daily progress updates to the operations team and coordinate tasks.
• Assist grounds, landscaping, snow removal, and general portfolio upkeep.
• Submit accurate administrative paperwork and participate in on-call rotation.
• Support other B&H assets as needed to meet company goals.
