Job summary

Essex-Property-Trust is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to uphold the upkeep and functionality of one or more residential properties in San Jose. You will perform routine and preventive maintenance on building systems, address work orders, and prepare units for new residents.

You will inspect common areas, manage a preventive maintenance schedule, and respond to emergencies while on-call evenings, weekends, and holidays. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in property maintenance or facilities management.
• HVAC and/or CPO certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing and appliance repair.
• Familiarity with environmental hazards as applicable to residential housing.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliances).
• Repair interior and exterior property features and maintain common areas.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution.
• Prepare vacant units for new residents (paint, clean, repair).
• Inspect property and systems, implement preventive maintenance schedule.
• Be on-call for emergencies, including evenings, weekends, holidays.
