Job summary

Birge & Held is hiring a Service Technician I in Topeka, KS to support daily maintenance at multifamily communities. You will perform HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs to ensure resident satisfaction and property standards.

You will manage work orders, coordinate with the operations team, and assist with on-site tasks, preventive maintenance, and safety compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Formal HVAC/technical training or equivalent experience.
• EPA refrigerant handling certification is preferred.
• HVAC certification is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and common areas for safety and condition.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing and structural systems.
• Complete work orders within 48 hours unless emergency.
• Ensure unit turnovers completed within 5 working days.
• Maintain grounds and assist with seasonal tasks.
