Job summary

Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to join its maintenance crew. The role involves skilled work across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and related trades to maintain and repair apartment buildings and fixtures.

The position supports the Authority’s mission with emphasis on safety, quality workmanship, and collaboration with residents and staff. A high school diploma or GED and apprenticeship experience are preferred, with training opportunities

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED; completion of appropriate apprenticeship programs or in-service training is a plus.
• Proficiency in electrical, appliance repair, plumbing, and carpentry trades.
• Knowledge of standard practices, tools, and safety in mechanical/building trades.
• Preference may be given to candidates with Certificated Maintenance Technician II designation and/or experience using Yardi Voyage for work orders.

Responsibilities

• Remove, install, and repair cabinets and countertops.
• Install and repair baseboards, molding, and trim.
• Repair damaged walls, ceilings, stairs, flooring, and tiles.
• Repair and adjust windows and doors; service door locks and screens.
• Maintain wood fixtures and furniture; repair roofing shingles.
• Perform electrical work: conduit, wiring, switches, breakers, lighting fixtures, wiring tests.
• Repair plumbing fixtures and water heaters; locate leaks and repair pipes.
• Repair masonry; lay bricks/blocks; pour concrete walks and porches.
• Repair metal fixtures; perform welding tasks; inspect fire extinguishers.
