Job summary

Durham Housing Authority is seeking a dependable Site Laborer to maintain our residential communities in Durham. This hands-on role covers groundskeeping, janitorial duties, and assisting with resident requests to keep properties clean, safe, and welcoming.

You will work outdoors and indoors, perform routine cleaning, assist with event setup, respond to work orders, and support emergency maintenance as needed. A valid NC driver's license is required and able to lift heavy objects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Vocational training in facilities maintenance is a plus.
• Basic experience in building maintenance or custodial work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, appearance, and safety of assigned properties and grounds.
• Remove litter, debris, and obstacles from community areas.
• Perform janitorial duties: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning common areas.
• Clean restrooms, kitchens, appliances, countertops, sinks, windows, and mirrors.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles; assist with moving appliances as directed.
• Respond to work orders; support emergency maintenance as needed.
• Escort contractors, vendors, and pest control service providers as needed.
• Handle daily mail pickup and distribution; set up community rooms for events.
• Follow safety procedures and organizational policies; perform other duties as assigned.
