Job summary

Housing Authority Of The City Of Durham is seeking a Site Laborer to maintain properties, perform outdoor groundskeeping, and handle indoor janitorial tasks. The role supports daily operations and resident services across Durham, NC from a hands-on, team-oriented environment.

You will perform cleaning, safety checks, and basic maintenance, respond to work orders, and help set up spaces for events while following safety procedures and policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Basic experience in building maintenance, groundskeeping, custodial services, or general labor.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license may be required.
• Experience safely operating hand tools, equipment, or machinery.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, appearance, and safety of properties and grounds.
• Remove litter and debris from community areas.
• Perform routine janitorial duties in common areas.
• Clean restrooms, kitchens, appliances, countertops, sinks, windows, and mirrors.
• Assist with appliance moving and installation as directed.
• Respond to work orders and support maintenance requests.
• Escort contractors, vendors, and pest control providers as needed.
• Handle daily mail pickup and distribution.
• Set up community rooms for meetings and events.
