  • Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to independently manage daily field operations and make sound decisions when the manager is unavailable.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from aerial lifts, enter crawl spaces, and perform physically demanding field work when required.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and decision‑making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of fiber optic installation technicians and field crews.
  • Perform and oversee fiber optic internet installations, including aerial, underground, and premise wiring.
  • Ensure proper installation of fiber optic cable, terminals, drops, ONTs, routers, and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot fiber optic connectivity, signal, equipment, and installation issues.
  • Perform fiber testing using optical power meters, light sources, and other testing equipment.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with installation/project specifications.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, fiber maps, work orders, and network documentation.
  • Train, mentor, and assist technicians with installation procedures, safety practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Monitor crew productivity and ensure daily production goals are met.
  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, customers, and other contractors as needed.
  • Identify job-site issues and communicate delays, material needs, access problems, or construction concerns.
  • Maintain accurate installation records, photos, test results, and job documentation.
  • Ensure proper use, care, and inventory of tools, vehicles, equipment, and materials.
  • Enforce company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and proper job-site safety procedures.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with customers and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist with escalated service calls and difficult installations when necessary.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards and applicable fiber optic industry practices.
  • Assume designated manager responsibilities when the manager is away on leave, including coordinating daily operations, assigning crews and work, monitoring schedules and productivity, addressing field issues, and communicating updates to leadership.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact for technicians, customers, contractors, and internal departments during the manager’s absence.
  • Escalate significant safety, personnel, customer, scheduling, or operational issues to the appropriate company leadership.
  • Maintain continuity of team communication, documentation, reporting, and decision-making while the manager is away.

Deeply Digital, LLC is a communications, construction, and consulting company in Montrose, Colorado serving the entire western slope. Its sister company, Clearnetworx, provides ISP services to the surrounding region. Our entire team represents the company on the front lines, and all members work as a team to fulfill the needs of our customers. The Excavation Support person is a laborer who performs a variety of manual tasks outdoors in all weather conditions; including digging, laying conduit, helping with machinery, etc. This is all done while working in a safe and effective manner.

Deeply Digital's outside plant focuses primarily on placing underground and aerial fiber for telecommunications. Its services include line, coaxial, and optical fiber cable placement, splicing, and home installation.

Purpose

Position Overview

The Residential Fiber Install Field Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating field crews performing residential and commercial fiber optic internet installations. This position ensures installations are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company, customer, and industry standards. The Field Lead serves as the primary point of contact for technicians in the field, providing technical guidance, troubleshooting support, quality oversight, and daily direction to ensure projects are completed on schedule. When the manager is away on leave, the Field Lead will step up to perform designated manager duties and provide operational leadership to maintain continuity of field activities. The position will report to the Install Manager.

  • Knowledge of fiber connectors, closures, splitters, terminals, and distribution systems.

  • OSHA, fiber optic, or other relevant industry certifications.
  • Previous experience training or mentoring installation technicians.
  • Experience coordinating field operations or serving in an acting supervisor or manager capacity.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to kneel, bend, crawl, stand, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in heat, cold, rain, snow, and other weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate or work around construction vehicles and equipment.

This is primarily a field-based position. The Field Lead will regularly travel between job sites and may work in residential neighborhoods, commercial properties, construction sites, utility corridors, and other telecommunications environments. When the manager is away on leave, the Field Lead may also perform administrative, scheduling, coordination, and operational duties normally handled by the manager.
