Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of New York in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Maintenance Worker to maintain a safe, clean facility at Muhlenberg Residence. The role is non-exempt, hourly, and may be full-time or part-time, reporting to the Facilities Supervisor/Program Director.

You will perform roofing, plumbing, carpentry, tile work, locksmith duties, janitorial tasks, inventory, and assist with extermination prep, while following safety protocols and wearing PPE.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 3 years in building maintenance or a related field.
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of plaster, sheet rock, painting, plumbing, window repairs, locksmith, tile work, electrical work and safety issues.

Responsibilities

• Represent the organization’s mission, values, ethics, and Code of Conduct at all times.
• Paints and repairs roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other structural components.
• Performs basic plumbing, carpentry, tile work, locksmith, and electrical services.
• Maintains floors and cleans interior and exterior areas; keeps facilities tidy.
• Orders and inventories parts, supplies, and equipment; records maintenance work.
• Escorts vendors and uses tools from hand tools to power tools.
• Completes janitorial tasks and assists in extermination prep; uses PPE for safety.
