Job summary

The University of Chicago Facilities Services is seeking a hands-on maintenance and housekeeping teammate to support residence hall operations on campus. You will perform non-mechanical repairs, assist with room turnovers, and help set up spaces for events and conferences in student housing.

Strong customer service, reliability, and the ability to work safely with various tools and equipment are essential. A high school diploma and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Experience as skilled janitor/housekeeper or maintenance specialist preferred.
• Ability to learn and use standard software applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-mechanical repair and services in student spaces.
• Handle light fixtures, carpentry, painting, and furniture maintenance.
• Support room turnovers and event setup for conferences and housing.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and community.
• Coordinate follow-up work orders for engineers or skilled trades.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in common areas and entrances.
• Respond to emergencies such as water leaks and fire alarms.
