Job summary

The Study at University of Chicago is seeking a detail-oriented Building Maintenance Technician to support daily maintenance and operations of our 167-room hotel on Chicago's Hyde Park campus. The role involves hands-on maintenance across guest rooms, public spaces, restaurant, and event areas, ensuring comfort, safety, and a well-kept property.

Qualifications

At least one year of building maintenance, facilities, engineering, or equivalent hands-on maintenance experience.
Practical experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or general building maintenance.

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance throughout guest rooms, public areas, restaurant and kitchen spaces, event areas, back-of-house spaces, and building systems.
Respond to maintenance work orders, guest requests, and operational needs.
Inspect HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems and repair as needed.
Patch and repair walls; paint interiors; repair doors, hardware, and cabinetry.
Assist with seasonal exterior maintenance and safety procedures.
