Job summary

Louisiana Tech University in Ruston seeks an Assistant Director of Facilities to lead maintenance, custodial, and renovation efforts across university housing.

You will supervise facilities staff, manage work orders, ensure safety standards, and coordinate budgets and projects, with a focus on student satisfaction.

A bachelor’s degree and 3 years' experience preferred; strong leadership and communication required.

Qualifications

• Earned bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant facilities management experience preferred.
• Demonstrated exceptional communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day maintenance and custodial operations for assigned residential facilities
• Ensure residential facilities meet health, safety, fire and accessibility standards
• Monitor building conditions and conduct regular facility inspections
• Coordinate emergency repairs and after-hours work and response procedures
• Implement preventative maintenance and regular custodial schedules
• Supervise maintenance and custodial civil service positions and conduct performance evaluations for civil service employees
• Recruit, hire, train, evaluate and develop facilities personnel while fostering a culture of excellent customer service and teamwork
• Manage the housing work order system and analyze trends to improve operational efficiency
• Monitor facilities operating budgets and obtain quotes and manage purchasing of supplies and materials in addition to contracted services
• Coordinate facility support for conferences and summer camps in addition to the opening and closing of residential facilities for student move in/move out periods
• Respond professionally and timely to student, parent and staff concerns regarding facility issues.
• Promote a customer-focused maintenance operation that supports student satisfaction
