Job summary

Lifeworks, a nonprofit provider of services for adults with developmental disabilities, seeks a Teacher/Counselor (Residential Counselor) to support individuals in our residential programs in Canton, MA. The role emphasizes hands-on care, ISP development, and coordination with a multidisciplinary team.

The position requires experience with ID/DD, a college degree or equivalent, and the ability to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with ID/DD.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• MAP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes health through routine, preventive, and emergency care.
• Assists with direct care (bathing, toileting, grooming, meals).
• Ensures safe, secure residential environments.
• Provides ISP education, training, counseling, and support to meet goals.
• Develops, writes, and presents ISP and assessments with staff.
• Provides transportation to individuals as needed.
• Communicates with families, guardians and advocates to align programming.
• Maintains confidential files and attends required meetings.

Bachelor's or Associate degree in related field with 2+ years experience
