Job summary

Lifeworks in Norwood, MA is hiring a Teacher/Counselor (Residential Counselor) to work with adults with ID/DD in our residential programs. Monday–Friday 7am–3pm. We are a nonprofit agency focused on empowering individuals to live engaged and meaningful lives.

Candidates should have related experience, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to supporting ISP goals. We offer competitive pay and excellent benefits in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with ID/DD.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to pass background checks and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Promotes health through routine, preventive, and emergency care.
• Assist with hands-on direct care (showering, toileting, grooming, meals).
• Ensure residential environments are safe and free from harm.
• Provide education, counseling, and support to achieve ISP goals.
• Develop, write, and present ISP and assessments with staff.
• Provide transportation to individuals as needed.
• Communicate with families and guardians to ensure consistent programming.
• Maintain confidential files and participate in meetings.
