Lifeworks, a nonprofit human services agency, is hiring a Teacher/Counselor (Residential Counselor) to support adults with ID/DD in residential programs in South Norwood, MA. The role emphasizes direct care, ISP development, and advocacy within a compassionate team.

Candidates should have related experience; a Bachelor’s or Associate degree is preferred, with strong communication skills. Excellent benefits are provided, including retirement matching and health plans.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with ID/DD.
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a related field with two years of experience, or HS diploma with five years of related work experience in Human Services.

Responsabilités

• Promotes optimal health for individuals through routine, preventive, and emergency health care.
• Assists with hands-on direct care including showering, toileting, shaving, and meal-time assistance.
• Ensures residential environments are safe and free from harm.
• Provides education, counseling, and physical assistance to achieve ISP goals in areas such as functional academics and social skills.
• Develops, writes and presents annual ISPs and semi-annual assessments with staff and directors.
• Provides transportation to individuals as necessary.
• Communicates with family, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure consistency of programming.
• Performs case management: maintains files, documents activities, and attends meetings.
