Lifeworks, Walpole, MA, is hiring a full-time Assistant Teacher/Counselor (Residential Counselor) to support adults with ID/DD in residential programs. The role blends hands-on care with education and counseling to help ISP goals and daily living skills.

Responsibilities include ensuring safety, assisting with daily living activities, coordinating transportation, and maintaining confidential records. The ideal candidate has ID/DD experience, a valid driver’s license, and is committed to ongoing

Qualifications

• Experience working with Individuals with ID/DD.
• High school Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Must pass background checks and have a valid driver’s license.
• MAP certification is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Promotes health through routine, preventive, and emergency care.
• Assists with direct care (showering, toileting, hygiene, meals).
• Ensures safe residential environments free from harm.
• Provides education, counseling, and support to ISP goals.
• Develops and presents ISP plans and semi-annual assessments.
• Provides transportation to individuals as needed.
• Maintains confidential files and documents; attends meetings.
