Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Service Counselor at the Palmer Correctional Facility in Alaska. You will manage a caseload, conduct SBIRT/ASAM assessments, and lead groups under approved curricula, aligned with ADOC contract requirements.

This role requires Alaska Counselor Technician Certification or equivalent, knowledge of substance-related disorders, and the ability to pass background checks and PREA screening.

Qualifications

• Experience in group, individual and family counseling.
• Knowledge of SBIRT and ASAM assessments.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Must pass ADOC background check and PREA screening.
• Must hold Alaska Counselor Technician certificate or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Conduct SBIRT and ASAM assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Facilitate groups on chemical dependency and related issues.
• Monitor client progress toward treatment goals.
• Complete timely, contract-compliant documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
