Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking an Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Service Counselor at Palmer Correctional Center in Alaska. This full-time role requires Alaska Counselor Technician Certification, SBIRT/ASAM expertise, and the ability to manage a caseload within the ADOC SATS contract.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, facilitating groups, developing treatment plans, and ensuring contract compliance while maintaining accurate documentation in a security-sensitive setting.

Qualifications

• Alaska State Counselor Technician Certification required or equivalent.
• Knowledgeable of Substance Related and Addictive Disorders and their treatment.
• Experience aligned with Alaska Certification CDCI; CDCII preferred.
• Able to obtain Alaska CDCI Certification within one year of hire.
• Proficiency in SBIRT and ASAM assessments and documentation.
• Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct SBIRT and ASAM assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Facilitate groups, orientation, referrals, and reentry planning.
• Monitor client progress and ensure contract compliance.
• Complete timely documentation and maintain accurate records.
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
