Job summary

City of Yuma is seeking a Residential Building Inspector I to join the Community Development Department. The ideal candidate reviews plans, inspects residential and small commercial projects, and ensures compliance with building, safety, and construction codes and regulations.

Under supervision, you will enforce city codes, assist clients to meet code requirements, and support the Building Safety Division's mission to serve the community with professionalism and integrity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three years construction or inspection experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience accepted.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new construction and repair/alteration projects for code compliance.
• Equitably enforce building and safety codes and City policies.
• Research construction practices, document inspection procedures and findings.
• Assist clients on methods to meet code and ordinance requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of work-related information.
