Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent; two years of related experience in model building or fire code enforcement.
• Associate's Degree in Fire Science/Investigation or related field preferred.
• Fire Inspector certification in a model fire code preferred; certification I within one year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts fire and life safety inspections and follow-up inspections for hazards and compliance with codes.
• Performs duties within scope of authority; adheres to YFD policies and procedures.
• Attends plan reviews and construction site inspections to ensure code compliance.
• Provides technical assistance to clients and monitors code compliance.
• Conducts incident investigations to determine origin and cause of fires.
• Responds to inquiries and educates the public on risk reduction topics.
• Maintains records and prepares documents per established standards.
