Job summary

Services for the UnderServed (S:US) seeks a Maintenance Worker for its family shelter in Brooklyn, NY. The role covers interior and exterior upkeep, basic repairs, and safety system maintenance to ensure a safe environment for residents.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of building maintenance experience, and the ability to work with a culturally diverse population. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish speaking preferred.
• At least two years of building maintenance experience in a large residential/institutional setting.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs and building maintenance across the facility.
• Paint, plaster, repair furniture, and maintain safety systems (smoke detectors, fire extinguishers).
• Perform exterior snow/ice removal and grounds upkeep (sidewalks, mowing, landscaping).
• Rodent control and other exterior building maintenance tasks.
