Job summary

S:US is seeking a Maintenance Worker for their families with children shelter in Brooklyn. This in-person role is based at Dumont Avenue, NY 11207 and involves building upkeep, minor repairs, and safety device maintenance.

Responsibilities include painting, plastering, furniture repairs, snow removal, and grounds maintenance. A valid NYS driver's license and bilingual English/Spanish are preferred; two years of relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Two years of building maintenance experience in a large residential/institutional setting.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
• NYS Driver’s License preferred; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs and building maintenance across assigned areas.
• Paint, plaster, repair furniture and maintain safety devices (smoke detectors, extinguishers).
• Handle exterior snow/ice removal and grounds upkeep (sidewalks, mowing, landscaping).
• Address rodent control and other exterior maintenance tasks as needed.

SCOPE OF ROLE: Carry out minor repairs and building maintenance throughout assigned areas of the facility. This includes but is not limited to; painting, plastering, repairing furniture, maintaining smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers. Responsible for exterior snow and ice removal as well as upkeep of the grounds. This includes but is not limited to sidewalk maintenance, mowing grass, trimming shrubbery, maintaining landscaping, rodent removal, and all other aspects of the building exterior.
