Schedule: Full Time, Part Time, and On Call positions available; multiple shifts.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Operations Manager.
Salary/Grade: 74, Non‑Exempt.

About the Red Shield Family Residence – Eliza Shirley House & Red Shield Family Residence Resolution Center
The Salvation Army offers a safe and welcoming emergency housing program providing loving, respectful, compassionate, and non‑judgmental services to empower residents toward self‑sufficiency. The goal is to support individuals experiencing homelessness, addressing immediate barriers to self‑sufficiency, identifying and accessing longer‑term housing support, and resolving their immediate housing crisis. All populations experiencing homelessness, including single men and women, couples, and families with children, are accepted.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and welfare of shelter residents by administering house rules related to conduct, fire safety, room conditions, and curfew restrictions.
- Conduct house and room checks; answer the telephone; greet visitors.
- Check in new residents, check out departing residents, prepare house reports, and manage sign‑in logs.
- Call residents regarding meals, monitor mealtimes, and respond to emergencies to ensure safe and efficient evacuation when necessary.
- Respond to residents’ needs and requests; oversee shift‑specific activities.
- Document and communicate issues and concerns to the House Manager; coordinate with other house‑management shifts.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet usage.
- As a Mandated Reporter, proof of completion of child‑abuse training meeting Pennsylvania Act 153 standards within 30 days of employment; recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
- Must have valid Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153, including PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
- Must possess an appreciation for and understanding of The Salvation Army’s mission.
