Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory’s East Stroudsburg Corps is seeking a Guest Advisor to monitor shelter operations and assist guests with daily needs. This part‑time role involves managing access, coordinating communications, and supporting intake processes during scheduled hours.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, a valid PA driver’s license with a good driving record, and completion of required state background checks and training.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License with good driving record.
  • At least 21 years of age with at least 2 years of driving experience, including vans.
  • Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor shelter and guests, assuring safety and adherence to policies and regulations.
  • Control access and activity on shelter property, permitting only approved persons.
  • Oversee official shelter communications via phone and in‑person.
  • Keep a written record of all persons in/out, and all communications.
  • Oversee intakes as necessary during scheduled hours, including initial interview, alcohol/drug screen, completing paperwork, reviewing rules and policies, and assigning sleeping areas.
  • Assist guests with bedding, personal care items, meals, and any specific requests or needs.
  • Refer guests to Case Manager and assist with other community resources as necessary to effectively meet guest needs, e.g., transportation, recovery meetings, shopping, Bible studies, etc.
  • Monitor entire shelter property to ensure guests are safe and adhering to policies, including basic cleaning inside/outside the buildings and may include snow removal.
  • Maintain all required records and logs, e.g., incident reports, fire drill logs, medication records.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all information related to shelter concerns, employees, and guests.
  • Communicate pertinent information to incoming RA, and elevate concerns to Director.

Position Overview
