Job summary

Desert Springs Healthcare seeks a dedicated Transportation Aide to coordinate and provide timely transportation for residents to physician appointments under nursing supervision.

Responsibilities include organizing driving schedules, transporting residents to various programs, and reporting changes in residents’ condition to the clinical team. Must hold a valid state's driver’s license, nurse aide certification, and CPR/BLS as required by state regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License for the state of application.
• State Registry listing as Nurse Aide in good standing.
• Current BLS/CPR certification as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Organizes transportation of residents to appointments based on priority of needs.
• Transports residents to inpatient and outpatient programs and to facilities and residences.
• Develops driving schedule aligned with residents’ medical appointments and destinations.
• Reports changes in resident condition and vital signs during/after transport to clinical staff.
• Transports medical records for signatures to medical offices.
• Maintains safety and vehicle cleanliness, logs mileage and routine maintenance.
• Assists clinical staff with safe lifting and transfers as ordered by physicians.
• Establishes communications with outside facilities and providers to ensure proper services are scheduled.
• Notifies DON and nursing staff of scheduling changes and follows up as needed.
• Provides adequate hydration to residents and protects personal property.
• Other duties may be assigned.
