Job summary

Community Housing Innovations (CHI) is seeking an on-site security/reception role in Riverhead, NY. The position involves screening residents and visitors, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting administrative duties at the front desk. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of related experience, with English proficiency and a plus for Spanish.

Open shifts include evenings; benefits and health plans are offered by CHI to support staff wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 1–2 years in related field preferred.
• Proficiency in English; Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.
• Basic computer skills: MS Windows, MS Office, internet usage.
• Physically able to tour property, walk distances, and climb stairs.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility to residents, staff, and visitors; wear safety monitor vest and ID badge.
• Screen clients and visitors entering the facility.
• Conduct bag searches at intake and as required.
• De-escalate potential crises and document interventions.
• Perform rounds of the facility and monitor safety systems.
• Complete logs and incident reports; handle receptionist duties.
• Support fire drills and evacuations as needed.
• Assist with room preparation and turnover for new clients.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and report maintenance needs.
