Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Social Services Assistant to provide general social services to American Indian and Alaska Native populations. You will address social and emotional needs affecting health and work with a dedicated team to strengthen wellness, resilience, and community well‑being.

The role involves assisting with resident schedules, activities, and cultural programming, monitoring behavior, and ensuring a safe residential environment while maintaining compliance with policies

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience OR a bachelor's degree with 24 semester hours in related subjects.
• Experience in social services, case management, or patient support.
• Education/combination options may meet requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist higher-level staff in implementing resident schedules, structured activities, and cultural programming.
• Monitor resident behavior, conduct bed checks, and document observations.
• Escort and supervise residents during meals, educational and recreational activities while maintaining accountability.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living and treatment assignments under supervision.
• Support facility operations with security procedures, surveillance, and safety checks.
• Report resident status and incidents to supervisory staff.
