Job summary

Nikon SLM Solutions seeks a Resident Service Engineer to install and service metal additive manufacturing systems at customer sites. Responsibilities include mechanical setup, electrical hook-up, precision alignment, and establishing customer network interfaces.

You will train level 1 operators, coordinate with customers on installation status, and work with the Service Manager to ensure smooth deployments. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of industrial equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with metal 3D printing and Powder Bed Fusion.
• Willingness to travel internationally if required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Install complete systems at customer sites, including mechanical setup and electrical hook-up.
• Perform precision alignment and establish customer network interfaces.
• Provide level 1 training on system operation to customer personnel.
• Coordinate installation status and timing with customers and the Service Manager.
• Report installation progress to the Service Manager and ensure service excellence.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Nikon SLM SolutionsResident Service Engineers provide support to our external customer by applying their knowledge and experience with Nikon SLM Solutions machines. This position is primarily focused on installation and service, and the successful candidate will be responsible for the installation of complete systems at our customer location. Machine installation includes mechanical set-up, electrical hook-up, precision alignment, and establishing customer network interfaces.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

• Provide technical support for Nikon SLM Solutions installed machines for electrical, mechanical, cooling, and gas systems to allow machines to operate at their optimal efficiency and productivity.
• Collaborate with customer personnel to ensure successful installation and start-up.
• Engage, teach, and train customer personnel on level 1 system use for Nikon SLM Solutions equipment and peripheral machines.
• Attend, and schedule when required, meetings with customers to discuss installation or re-pair status and timing.
• Communicate the installation or repair status frequently to the customer and the Service Manager.
• Work closely with the Service Manager to ensure customers are served with excellence.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Automation Technology or equivalent experience.
• Practical, hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience with industrial equipment.
• Computer hardware/software set-up experience.
• Ability to read electrical schematics.
• Experience with 3D printing technology preferred, specifically, Metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion.
• Hands-on experience with automation systems in manufacturing plants.
• CAD software experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to travel internationally if requested.
• Ability to work independently and cope with pressure.
