Job summary

Arlington Properties is seeking a Courtesy Officer to join our Birmingham community. This part-time role focuses on a strong security presence, resident assistance, and proactive safety monitoring across common areas.

You'll work with property management to respond to incidents per policy and help maintain a welcoming, safe environment for residents. A background in law enforcement or military is preferred, along with a high school diploma and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Active or retired law enforcement officer OR military background.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain calm and professionalism in all situations.
• Detail-oriented with excellent observational skills.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work independently and follow company policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible presence throughout the property by walking the grounds daily.
• Respond to noise complaints and help de-escalate situations professionally.
• Assist residents with lockouts and other non-emergency needs.
• Monitor common areas like pools, laundry rooms, and fitness facilities.
• Check lighting and report maintenance needs to the management team.
• Observe and report vandalism, suspicious activity, or vehicle violations.
• Support overall community safety through routine patrols.
• Contact local law enforcement when appropriate, in accordance with policy.
