Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living is seeking a Resident Programs Director in Charlottesville, VA to design and manage the Sweet Memories activity program for memory care and Assisted Living residents. You will plan a seven‑day activity calendar, coordinate with the Resident Care Director, and ensure high engagement and quality of life for residents.

You will lead staff, train volunteers, and oversee program operations, including UAIs/ISPs, training, and family communications.

Qualifications

• Two years of college in a health care field or as an activities professional with accrediting body.
• 1–2 years of full-time experience in activities program in adult care or memory care.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• UAIs/ISPs certificates or willingness to obtain.
• Knowledge of social and psychological needs of residents.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow instructions.
• Willing to perform non-professional duties.
• Ability to use technology and maintain SMILE platform calendar.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability on company insurance.

Responsibilities

• Designs a creative activity program based on company standards to meet resident needs and interests.
• Plans seven-day activity calendar and provides one-to-one programming.
• Work daily with Resident Care Director to serve residents, families, visitors, and staff.
• Monitor day-to-day operation of the Sweet Memories Neighborhood, including ADLs and meals.
• Follow state regulations for Assisted Living facilities.
• Participate in CSL Signature Service Programs for SweetMemories and Assisted Living residents.
• Assist in completing and updating UAIs and ISPs for the Sweet Memories Program.
• Participate in Care Plan and family meetings.
• Communicate with families about resident involvement in activities.
• Assist in training staff for Sweet Memories Neighborhood and Assisted Living activities.
• Guide staff on importance of activity programs for residents’ quality of life.
• Participate in move-ins, tours, and occupancy maintenance.
• Coordinate special events (family nights, open houses).
• Manage volunteer program and scheduling.
• Arrange transportation for outings and medical trips.
• Weekend coverage as needed.
• Be able to perform any job in the facility upon instruction from the Executive Director.
• Supervise Program Assistants and Activity Assistants; interview, plan, assign, and evaluate.
